Review of Strangeland (1998) by Dr3W H — 28 Dec 2006
What we have here is an amusing little romp into nowhereland. The premise and story are strong enough to be worthwhile but there were two or three moments in which I felt a strong disconnection with the reality of the situation. More specifically these moments are very poor depictions of how people would react or things would play out in a given scenario. This wouldn't be a problem if the movie didn't try to take itself seriously for the most part.
Dee Snider is pretty much hilarious, He sure seems to think he is profound and maybe if I had seen this movie back when it came out I would have bought it. But as it stands I have seen what he attempts to do done much better many times. That isn't to say he isn't effective, because he certainly has a few great moments.
This movie sure is not destined to change the world or anything but it is worth a peek.
