Review of Strangeland (1998) by Rob C — 27 Feb 2010
I love this film for the off-beat dialogue that Capt. Howdy (Dee Snider) expresses; albiet, a little corny at certain times. But, it was an enjoyable script from directer John Pieplow. The film exposes a dark, post-alternative theme, brazen with unorthodox characters in the seedy undergound world of Strangeland.
Dee Snider comes off a little over-dramatic in some scenes, but I believe he played a convincing character in Capt. Howdy. Strangeland comes off as a second-rate Saw, but the twisted way of torture Snider displays to his victims, can't be overlooked.
Sadly, I found the soundtrack to be much better than the actual film.
