Review of Strange Days (1995) by Brandon S — 24 Jun 2016
Remarkably well made sci-fi film that is strapped with style, but unfortunately very dated. The acting is on point throughout the entire film features Sizemore and D'Onofrio as psychos (big surprise!) and Finnes and Basset as the heroes.
The style of the direction is what steals the show, Bigelow's hyperkinetic vision of New Year's Eve of 2000 seems to be a mix between the rave scene and the mid 90's gangster rap era. Which is also the downfall of the film because now it seems kind of silly who would have thought in 1995 that raves and gangster rap would of lost out to boy bands and hip pop.
That said still a nicely constructed sci-fi thriller that will be enjoyed by most.
