Ok let's be real, I don't know much about N.W.A. I didn't going in, but there was something about the trailer (likely the mix of realism coinciding with racial equality issues and the current anti-police movement) that mesmerized me, so I couldn't miss Straight Outta Compton.

The film was incredible. My jaw was on the floor in regards to the talent and casting for the entire film; the actors are almost indistinguishable from the actual crew, which you realize as soon as the credits and real news footage starts rolling. Absolutely spot-on. Even though O'Shea Jackson Jr. is Ice Cube's actual son - I would say it's Jason Mitchell's Eazy E that steals the show (as he should, as the film is dedicated to E's memory).

As for the other parallels between the problems of the mid-80?s RE: gang violence and unfair discrimination, it's eerie how police brutality hasn't seemed to change. Police are just as brutal as ever, especially when dealing with minorities and the lower class. It's disgusting and it's time something changed.

So happy this film turned out to be an excellent biopic. Don't miss your chance to see it in theaters - you want that surround sound mix for these landmark songs being written and recorded.
