Review of Straight Outta Compton (2015) by Derek M — 16 Jan 2016

There will be no better soundtrack for 2015 films. Not to mention, "Straight Outta Compton" is also easily one of the best films of the year, despite garnering little attention from the Academy.

Director F. Gary Gray lets you know from frame one the type of ups and downs the viewer is in for. Very solid acting from the young cast, highlighted (in my opinion) by Corey Hawkins and O'Shea Jackson Jr; and Giamaitti is his usual entertaining self.

.. The historical journey through hip-hop, race riots and one of the most unprecedented representations of first amendment rights... from the second the beat drops, S.O.C. hits hard, heavy, and honestly.
