Review of Straight Outta Compton (2015) by David M — 14 Apr 2016
Excluding the odd short lived moment here & there - there is virtually z-e-r-o action or excitement, which is fine, but for a 2hour & 30min (almost as long as Titanic) film about the life of several iconic rappers going from life in the ghetto to having their names in lights - I sort of expected more.
Episodes of 'Grey's Anatomy' have more going on than this drawn out retelling. I think its great Ice Cube, Dr. Dre & others are in a situation where they can finally tell their story of being screwed over back in the day (more power to them) but in all honesty it was waaaay too long & I got painstakingly bored well before the credits hit.
Also, these men are now filthy rich, living the high life in mansions with expensive cars, jets, holiday homes, winning awards etc - so who are we actually supposed to feel sorry for?
