Review of Straight Outta Compton (2015) by Jingerjake — 22 Feb 2016
Damn, that **** was dope! What an incredible surprise. I'll be honest, after seeing the trailer and simply the subject matter I would not have expected to leave the theater so shocked. Even after the critical success I didn't expect to be this satisfied, but that's exactly what I am.
This is a gripping and intense biopic that tells the full story (to surprisingly impressive accuracy) of the rise and fall of N.W.A. I didn't even know the full story as many don't and thanks to such a successful film I now know the whole jist through an entertaining and incredible film.
O'Shea Jackson Jr. performs incredibly filling his father's shoes with ease and opening up a bright future. Every role delivers as well with all around outstanding performances. The script is powerful and the direction is solid.
If you read into the production of the film you'll understand why the movie's done so well. It's a carefully and expertly crafted work of film and it's one of the best this year.
