As a real life story? The rise of NWA and what came from their success is really interesting. As a movie? It is a little bit long and covers so much ground and since it is produced by Ice Cube (and stars his own son as his younger self), Dr.

Dre, and Easy-E's wife? The movie seems to be working very hard to present everyone in a positive light. None of this is to say it is a bad movie, as it is pretty good. I have no history with the music or the artists really.

I know of NWA, but it isn't really the kind of thing I was ever into. I think a long and comprehensive documentary would be far more fascinating than this movie, which is kind of muddled, just because it crams so much into it.

But the cast is great, it looks good, and it does it's best to tell the true story. The worst performance, though, has to be from Paul Giamatti's wig, which isn't fooling anyone.
