Review of Stories of Our Lives (2014) by Amanda C — 01 Jul 2015
A series of vignettes of the lives of LGBTQ individuals in Kenya shot in beautiful black and white, Stories of Our Lives packs quite the emotional punch. Each short story covers so much ground from love and hate to hope and despair which is what makes it remarkable.
Stories of Our Lives never shys away from the persecution, fear and discrimination faced by LGBTQ people in Kenya, but it doesn't lose itself in the horrible realities. Instead through its lyrical imagery and creative use of sound, Stories of Our Lives conveys an overall message of hope for a better tomorrow.
