Ryan Phillipe is a great actor, and this film has some stunning achievements for portrayal of modern battle sequences, but the script simply doesn't hit the mark here. There are moments when you feel they are probing some deep issues, but it seems to pull its punches by trying to do too many things in a short space of time.
