Review of Stop-Loss (2008) by T Gregory K — 08 Mar 2009
I think this movie is just the kind of movie that Americans need to see. It shows the war from the soldier's viewpoints, from the soldier's eyes. I have never cried more in any other movie than I did watching Stop Loss.
What pisses me off is that it kind of shows that signing up for the military is kind of like selling your soul to the Devil. As if becoming a soldier strips away their right to freedom. As if the soldiers belong to the military, not themselves.
I don't know if this is true or not. And who knows, maybe some soldiers feel like this and some don't. The point is that we live in a free country. Our soldiers live in a free country. Shouldn't they be free too? This movie was very emotional and dramatic, and I loved it.
It makes me that much more proud to be an American and that much more to be proud of those who are so proud that they will put their life in danger to protect America and Americans. Hooah!
