Review of Stop-Loss (2008) by Richard W — 21 Dec 2009
Ryan phillippe I always thought nothing of but he was pretty good, serious, believable, well rounded out & well played. But at the same time his character went through all that trouble just to turn around & go back to Iraq after being stop lossed.
The least there should have been was a prologue after the film telling where he ended up in iraq & then home after his time spent there, or if he died or if Steve died & Brandon decide dodge the army & go to Mexico or come home confident in his choice to return.
The Films end left me with no feeling of catharsis, No new knowledge was gained in relation of his choice to just give up at the end without learning what happened in the future. It was a good movie & it illustrates stop lossing & how it effects someone life & their choice in relation to it but it, in the end felt like a military propaganda film.
