Review of Stone (2010) by Jeffrey T — 30 Apr 2011
This movie appealed to me for the simple fact that De Niro and Norton are in it. De Niro is fading fast, but Edward Norton is a brilliant actor and I've liked him in everything I've seen (I didn't see The Incredible Hulk).
This movie centers around a parole counselor (De Niro) who sees one inmate after another and writes recommendations to the parole board as to whether they get an early out or not. Edward Norton is a prisoner who's done plenty of time already and he delivers the best acting in the movie.
Milla Jovovich is Norton's wife on the outside who Norton recruits to seduce De Niro and then unrealistic and disturbing romps between the two ensue. Save your time and pass on this movie. Yes, Norton delivers and De Niro has a couple of moments that shine - but that's it.
It's entirely depressing and unrealistic and a waste of great actors.
