Review of Stolen Kisses (1968) by Jens T — 25 Aug 2010
Francois Truffaut's critically acclaimed work hurls you into the disorganized, clueless world of Antoine Doinel, a recently dismissed soldier from French National Army. After the permanent suspension, Antoine sought after his childhood sweetheart who was also unsure about whether to reciprocate his interest or break his heart. Apart from his occasional visit to his Juliet's house and also to some brothels in Paris; he found himself in series of jobs without being able to settle in any until he joined a private detective farm serving as a stalker for rich individuals, following somebody's lost love or trying to determine the reasons for a shoe-showroom owner's loneliness. Eventually he lost charm in his new role, engaged himself in having coitus with client's better half and ended up as a TV repairman.
This movie is a tribute to a young man's indecisiveness about life, obfuscated about his romance or his work. As usual it has unconventional storyline, Truffaut will keep the spectators guessing the next sequences. Outlandish !!!
