Review of Stockholm (2019) by Nicolevaughn — 28 Apr 2019
Thrilling, exhilarating, and funny—Stockholm not only uses timeless music from legend Bob Dylan, but it also portrays the classic heist-action movie through dark humor. The film displays the origin of the psychological term “Stockholm syndrome,” defined as when a hostage develops feelings of trust or empathy towards their captors.
Typically examined in a serious tone, director Robert Budreau exemplifies this psychological development through sarcastic humor, livening the film alongside the thrilling action. Being an enormous fan of dark comedies, this film definitely does not run short in its subtle yet laughable humor.
I highly recommend this film, as the combination of comedy and dramatic action truly encapsulated my attention.
