Review of Stockholm (2019) by Jordanthomas13 — 18 Apr 2019
Stockholm’s absurdity is in its concept- the idea that a seemingly threatening bank heist could turn into something exciting for the captives involved. The twist isn’t in the stress of completing the heist, but the relationships that form in its midst.
These people have formed a bond due to Lars’ compassion and inability to act as a believable threat. Instead he wants everyone to be comfortable and well-treated, while having the appearance of being dangerous to the police so he can get what he wants.
It’s the scenes in those intimate spaces, the odd but real moments and bonds that occur, that really make the film captivating.
