Review of Stir Crazy (1980) by Steve B — 08 Jan 2012
Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor have teamed up a few times in movies and you'd never have thought that they make an unusual, but comical pair. Different styles of comedy from each actor gives their movies a quirkiness.
Stir Crazy has always been a favourite of mine since my early days in the eighties and to this day it still gets me laughing. Timeless classic humour. This movie has some amusing scenes and rememberable characters, like Grossburger for starters and there's also the black gay man who takes a liking to Pryor's character.
My Brother and I have always found the office rodeo bull and Skip riding it a brilliant scene, I like Pryor's character reaction in the cell on a wake up call and can't feel his leg. And the scenes of Skip holding out to the Warden's 'torture' and not batting an eyelid are also funny.
The two just bring the dullest of prison/cell scenes to life and is entertaining seeing what they get up to.
