Review of Still Alice (2014) by Jussi M — 01 Dec 2016
I've been looking forward to his for quite some time and was even more excited for it when Julianne Moore got an Academy Award for best actress. So when I watched it, it definitely lived up to my expectations.
Before I watched this, I was shocked and a bit mad that Rosamund Pike didn't get an Oscar but when I watched this film, now I understand why Julianne Moore got it, and deserved it also. She definitely did her research for people who have Alzheimer's Disease and is very convincing at it that it really made me feel sorry for her character.
The writing by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland is really great and really does know how it does for Alzheimer's Disease and how it can destroy them with it. The supporting cast is really good, and I like how it's not sentimental at all.
It also doesn't go through the cliches of it which I'm very glad to see. The characters felt real to me and are very memorable and developed. It got me interested to see where it's going, especially for Alice herself.
Still Alice is a terrific movie that gives out of the best performances from Julianne Moore.
