Review of Step Up Revolution (2012) by Melissa K — 23 Jan 2013
Introduction.
Step Up Revolution is the fourth movie to the Step Up series of movies I guess you would say. But usually, all movies are based on dance.
Plot Summary.
The plot to this is very original, to me it wasn't predictable at all. There are conflicts included during this movie with the main characters, Sean and Kathyrn. Throughout all of the Step Up movies, each movie is based on a different subject of dance. So in the fourth film, the entire movie is based on flash mobs. Throughout the movie the group of dancers, also known as "The Mob" create these huge flash mobs in the most unique places, at the craziest times.
Theme.
The overall theme of this movie would probably be, if you truly love doing something you shouldn't let anyone get in your way of pursuing it. During some point of the movie, the dancers realize that being stopped by someone who won't let them dance for themselves, is just another way to show that they're starting to give up. By then they get back up where they started and begin to reach their dreams and passion.
Technical Elements.
The camera work in the film I think was very unique. The set design was also amazing. It turned out very different, and it really showcased the scene well without explanation. Also the sound and music set the scene well and really made each different scene have its own character.
Conclusion.
My overall opinion of this film was that I simply loved it. It included a little bit of everything, humor, romance, drama and action as well. It could be very interesting to the eye depending on the type of movie a person likes. But I do believe anyone could and would love this movie. Once you've seen it, there no doubt you will want to see it again.
