Review of Step Up (2006) by Zack S — 16 Jul 2011
Step Up is a major step down for movies. Yeah, it looks good on paper but in the end it's disposable. I suppose when people go see this, they want to just see dancing and not have a good story to go with it.
So don't even get me started on the storyline. That being said though, the script is quite lame and the dialogue is downright cheesy. Plus, the casting is a bit lame too. It's laughable when they try to do the serious scenes.
Even when the film does stop with the drama and get to the dancing, it's quite ordinary and rather flat. I guess I shouldn't stick the knife in too deep since this was the first film of a franchise and it's more of a fresh start as opposed to be a movie that's mind-blowing.
Still, it's a trash film to me.
