Review of Step Up 2: The Streets (2008) by Naj G — 08 Jun 2012
Step Up 2 is a blah, starting off with the main female lead's (whose name I didn't even bother remembering) narration of her life story down to the movie's actual plot. I have seen these kinds of movies and they belong to either a C, which is being kind, or slumped to the wicked sounding alphabets on the bottom.
In fairness to the director, or the choreographer for that matter, there were "cute" scenes. I call it cute because they're not exactly magnificent - the train scene, and the rain scene. The train scene which vaguely reminds me of Sugar and Spice, but is quite interesting and fun and the rain scene, just because I figured they do not have any other bright ideas to make the dance look better.
Channing Tatum's role in this film might as well be called the cameo, but you see him on the posters like he has the lead role anyway. Also, the girl looks hotter on print.
Watch it if you want but trust me, you'll know what happens next... It's THAT predictable.
Finally, 2 stars is being kind, it's supposed to be 1.5 stars.
