Review of Steel Magnolias (2012) by Hank M — 29 Aug 2009
I saw this movie a lot as a kid and really missed a lot of the best aspects of it. Rewatching it, I'm really struck by the more subtle human relationship moments that get overshadowed by the melodramatic pieces.
While a lot of the energy seems to be placed on the Field and Roberts characters, I really gravitate towards Parton, Dukakis and MacLaine who I think are all fabulous in this and really save the movie from being a wet blanket.
