Review of Steel (1979) by Senor C — 08 May 2011
This movie had the gall to kill off George Kennedy the first 10 minutes. I was thinking 'you bastards! I like George Kennedy'. All is not a loss though because there is a good cast here to step in for him.
W/ the likes of Lee Majors, Terry Kiser, Richard Lynch Magnum PI's Roger E. Mosley & Robert Tessier I can't complain. Actually the cast is a whole lot better then the movie. Majors gets a steel working crew together to finish 9 stories in 3 weeks while being shell shocked of heights himself.
A pure ensemble blue collar movie that doesn't quite have the punch of Blue Collar or the comedy of Car Wash. Not really quite sure what the audience was for this because it's really light on the drama except for people taking headers off that high rise.
I guess it's a working class movie for the working class. Of course everybody knows once you finished a job it's time to crack out the beers. Anytime is Miller Time.
