I was very intrigued to see what Cameron Romero could do with a horror film. I know I should judge him on his own merit and not that of his fathers. But it's hard to get away from the fact that the Romero name has been pushed big time in the promoting of this film.

The DVD box cover has ROMERO in bigger font than the name of the film itself. Smaller still is the name Cameron. But away from all that is Staunton Hill any good? Well I must say that I was very disappointed with it.

Nothing remotely new or innovative about it. Just your average cliché psycho backwoods hillbilly murderers on a rampage horror. Which normally wouldn't bother me too much but nothing happens? Seriously its just 80 plus minutes of mindless yapping and endless bad acting.

One scene of truly horrific gore does not make a film. I also felt a little offended that Romero felt the need to explain the whole plot at the end. The plot was so flipping apparent in the first place.

I really didn't see the point of going over the whole thing in flashback form. Please give the viewer some credit. Even though this film is awful. There are some genuine signs of Romero's filming talent; it is a film that is wonderfully shot.

So fingers crossed for a better offering from him next time.
