Review of Starting Out in the Evening (2007) by Brandy M — 16 Jan 2008
Interesting film that was very obvious with its symbolism i.e. the daughter always carring around her huge purse to symbolize her "baggage". The acting was acceptable from Langella and newcomer, Ambrose but his daughter (who isn't even memorable to remember her name.
..I think Tomlin) was very robotic. It dragged in some places and there was some odd moments of intimacy (if you could call it that) that just didn't fit properly. Overall, great writing, possibly a better book though, not my choice for a film.
