Review of Starting Out in the Evening (2007) by Danette S — 19 Jul 2008
I don't get all the adoration of this film. The dialogue doesn't live up to the hype. As for the story, the word that kept coming to my mind while watching this was 'masturbatory'. The whole idea of a (sweet young, attractive female) student coming into the author's life to rediscover his work in later years is pretty cliche.
Maybe Brian Morton's fantasy?
