Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by Jonathan K — 01 Sep 2008
The film's writing is at times profound, but its overarcing themes of religion and its place in a military society distract from the rest of its societal commentary. The director did what he could with the budget he had, but the visual effects clearly suffer.
The first 25 minutes are grand, the remainder truly lacks any sense of urgency. Casper Van Dien delivers a very strong performance, far better than his performance in ST1, but his character is woefully underused.
ST1 was far more interesting, and ST2 was a far better horror film.
