Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by Andrew C — 30 Jan 2010
No film was ever improved by having Casper Van Dien in it, so bringing him back for this second sequel is largely irrelevant.
The problem with films like this is that they don't know their limitations - the effects are mostly good, but then some hideous piece of sub-video game CGI will pop up and ruin everything. The satire of the propaganda sequences is overused to an irritating degree, and the over the top religious finale doesn't seem to understand if it's being ironic or satirical, or just plain rubbish.
And the long-awaited mechanical drop suits from Heinlein's original novel are misused and disappointing.
