Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by Melanie-Ann D — 05 Dec 2010
Starship Troopers 3 takes off from the cult classic 1st film and then 'ups' the film in every way imo.
If you can harken back to the 50's sci-fi horror/ alien film, this one is in that vein except that it uses state of the art CGEFX and scale modeling.
Starship Troopers3 surprised me how much I enjoyed it. The story line itself was not even that bad but, the meat and potatoes here is the 'bug' concepts, movement and savagery.
The gore shown was along the lines of SAW series, pretty much covered anything even a severed head stuck skeweredly on a bugs' leg as it scuttled for more prey.
The 'mech warrior' (Marauders) machines are really cool and ad a fun dimension to the film.
Over the top gore, gladiator mentality, Xtreme gore effects, tongue in cheek humor and opressive fascist government make the movie interesting enough. Solid graphics and effects, even on a big flatscreen.
