Review of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008) by Alexander V — 30 Jun 2011
Alright! Sweet! A new Starship Troopers with the original cast member Casper Van dien and "Paul Verhoeven presents" right on the cover! Well ill start out this review saying, I like Casper Van Dien, I think he is one of hollywood's underrated actors.
He did a good job in this. To be honest I enjoyed most of the movie. I loved its cheesiness and satire. What you will notice is that this is pretty low budget. The Bugs are obviously CG and they look OK.
You can tell they are pretty fake. Compare to the first one, its terrible. The first ST had amazing special effects. Even to this day, I am impressed. Having enjoyed the first half, here comes the second half.
They land on bug planet, and need to get to the rendezvous point. Here is where I was getting irritated. Don't take a satirical B movie, and turn it into a stupid religious movie. Oh have faith here, I believe in God and he will help me.
This was honestly the dialogue for the last 45 minutes of the film. How bad of a movie it was, that what I liked about it. Now Edward Neumeier(Director) is trying to take a completely different approach to the movie.
It doesn't work that way. Casper Van Dien I think you deserve much better appraisal from Hollywood, and I think you need better material to work with. And anyone who hasn't seen the 2nd one, IT SUCKS DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
So Casper and Paul, if you happen to read this; people, including myself, want a real sequel to the first Starship troopers.
