Review of Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004) by Gerald K — 15 Nov 2008
The original Starship Troopers was Aliens (SciFi) meets the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan (military action). ST1 had an underlyng commentary about our society that made it fresh and fun to see.
Starship Troopers 2 leaves the social commentary behind and moves directly towards the Aliens films. ST2 has a lot of action, good special effects, and lots of Kelly Carlson (if you know what I mean).
However, in the end, it is nothing more than a way to kill a couple of hours if you are bored and have nothing else to watch. If you liked the action sequences in the Aliens movies, you will probably enjoy ST2.
In the current economy, don't spend money renting this movie but if it's on TV at a time when you have nothing else to watch, take a look and have fun. PS: If you are a Desperate Housewives fan, you should watch this movie to see Richard Burgi and Brenda Strong in a different setting.
