Review of Starship Troopers (1997) by Truerock — 08 Oct 2020
Starship Troopers was one of Robert A Heinlein's most widely known novels and was one of his best-selling books. It won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1960. The movie is loosely based on the novel.
I'm completely embarrassed to rate this movie as high as an 8. And, I hate to admit it... I want to rate it 9.
Every film student should watch this movie and try to understand why people love it and critics hate it.
Obviously this movie is satirical. Any attempt to take it seriously would be absolutely ridiculous. The bombastic and over-the-top fascist tropes along with overt sexuality and nudity are hard for a lot of individuals to cope with.
