Review of Starry Eyes (2014) by Matt L — 19 Nov 2014
In a time of endless found footage cliches and big budget studio sequels, this film breathes new life in to the somewhat dormant-as-of-late genre of Body Horror. With heavy influence from Cronenberg and Lynch, this film is every but as vile and grotesque as it is thought-provoking and poetic.
You even get a bit of a P.T. Anderson feel for the dynamics of young Los Angeles. Is the film perfect? No. But for me, it is exactly what I've been waiting for in horror: a return to the psychological and physical transformation of man (in this case woman) in to savage.
It's cruel, it's crude, it's cringe-inducing. It's incredible.
