Review of Starry Eyes (2014) by Jens L — 26 May 2016
Tense mood, dynamic style, brutal climax, pleasingly multilayered and complex metaphors and symbolism throughout, it seems present-day horror is going the way of pushing timeless directive horror elements far beyond films of the 80s and 90s--for example, extremely violent and graphic opening and closing sequences--while providing much food for thought in the middle.
If you enjoyed this movie, you will also enjoy Kill List, a UK film that's almost as violent and much more emotionally jarring.
