Review of Starry Eyes (2014) by Jon C — 26 Oct 2017
Trying to be a star in Hollywood costs a lot more than you think.
The industry is a plague full of rats that need to be stomped out.
Are we willing to change ourselves to have what we want, destroy our old selves and go beyond and be reborn?
Sarah wants the role of a lifetime for a prestigious production company but she's stuck working a dead end job and living with a bunch of wanna-be actors.
She gets an audition then a callback and flakes out seeing that the price is too high to pay for what she desires the most.
But she decides to take it anyway unaware of the aftermath.
Sarah then undergoes a horrific decaying transformation that increases her inhibitions and savage nature.
The makeup effects here are very grisly plus the gore is unexpected but delivers on the shock value.
The film does give us a look into how far someone is willing to go to make it in show business.
The combination of sex and horror are indistinguishable as someone mentions at one point; these people want to show the savagery of human nature.
Does that ever show in this film.
Gruesome yet relevant in terms of the moviemaking world.
