Review of Starlet (2012) by F P — 23 May 2018
A thoughtful, heartfelt work of joy, grace, and love. Like Baker's other post-recession works-I've yet to see his first three films-this delightful little wonder pulls back the covers on an underrepresented, socially outcast segment of sex workers, highlighting their world with empathy, finding the lightness and color within a somewhat abject existence.
Starring a mix nonprofessional actors, adult film actors, and young burgeoning actors, the film bubbles with energy and life as it explores one of the most peculiar cinematic friendships since Harold & Maude.
