Review of Stargate (1994) by Chris A — 21 Feb 2009
A ridiculous romp which mixes evil aliens with pseudo-Egyptology on a distant planet. As dumb as that makes it sound, it's actually a really fun movie which almost, ALMOST, makes sense (at least, more than the TV show).
There are two things which make it great. One is James Spader as the likeably nerdy main character, Daniel. (Sadly, he was replaced on the TV show by a boringly handsome soap-opera reject with a military haircut.
) The other is the amazing score, which has several hummable themes and an Old Hollywood feel.
