Review of Stargate (1994) by Andrew G — 06 Nov 2009
A good concept, but a bad film. Stargate "borrows" elements from other famous Science Fiction films, like Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Call me stupid for criticising the story of a Science Fiction film, but am I the only one who thought it was stupid? Anywhere and anyplace in time, and we get Aliens in Egypt.
The characters are boring, generic and poorly acted. The film suffers because it relies on giving us special effects that were decent at the time, but dated now, but because of these effects the narrative and plot lacks an engaging element.
