Before he got into plot silliness and CGI overload, Roland Emmerich's early work was actually decent and one of those films was Stargate. The premise is great, but the movie takes a long time to get going and when it does, it's over. Still, as a sci-fi fantasy adventure flick, it does the job. I only wished with the cast it had, it tried to at lead make it exciting and fun.
