Allen takes the excesses of Fellini and the dreariness of Bergman and creates a portrait of a whiny, misanthropic, self-indulgent filmmaker. The sad thing is I love Woody Allen, Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini, but this film is just a depressing mess.
