Review of Stardust Memories (1980) by Jonathan M — 28 Jun 2011
Woody Allen indulges himself in a little Fellini and the results are not too bad. Not as good as Annie Hall or Manhattan, but still a fun little comedy wherein Woody can make homages to all his favorite directors.
Looking back at the blowhard's conversation in the movie line in Annie Hall makes this particularly fun as well. I will say that I think this is the most gorgeously shot film of Woody Allen's that I've seen, although how much of that is due to deliberate Fellini aping I do not know.
It's also a bit weird to see Woody Allen being accused of being lecherous towards a young teenage girl in light of his actions a decade or so later.
