If your going to make a children's fairy tale, at least make it kid friendly. its like if Big Fish had lousy sword fights and naked Michelle Pfeiffers (without any actually exposing herself, which really begs the question why tell the audience she's naked? what was the point of it all??).
I suppose it could be my cynical and jaded self when it comes to adventure and fantastical pictures, but this is one that will get passed by on the wayside.
Oh, and DeNiro as a gay pirate? really? this is the new affirmative action now, isnt it? gotta have a gay character in every movie? first dumbledore, now this?
OH! and one last thing! the pirates fly around in what are called "Sky Vessels." guess what, when we all played Final Fantasy IX, they were called Air Ships. and were SO much cooler.
