Review of Stardust (2010) by Dan F — 31 Jan 2013
Neil Gaiman's post-modern, fantasy novel comes to life under the sure hand of director Matthew Vaughn. He creates a believable fantasy world, which contains likable characters. Charlie Cox and Claire Danes make a good team while Michelle Pfeiffer gives a delicious turn as an evil witch who craves youthful immortality.
Is the story silly at times? Yes. Does the post-modern sensibility come off a tad chaotic? Sure it does. In the end, the movie holds the viewer's interest while demonstrating a sharp sense of humor.
It's also good-natured at the core. One of the picture's highlight's is Robert DeNiro's turn as a conflicted pirate.
