Review of Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1985) by Matthew D — 28 Mar 2013
It's Star Wars written a different way. A great 3-D/Cell based animation. The characters are.. familar but enjoyable in this archetype variant, the story is actually rather good, and the set pieces nice and varied, as any good space epic should be.
The Starchaser craft is somewhat reminiscent of "Serenity" from "Firefly" and as Starchaser mirrors Star Wars, Star Wars went on to inadvertantly mirror Starchaser with a futuristic sword battle chopping a villain in two akin to Darth Maul.
Very much recommended. Surprised it gets such little exposure given its such a great piece of animation nestled in such a popular cult genre.
