Review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) by Greg O — 24 May 2018
Not much to say about this movie. It's A New Hope again. The visuals are neat, though Abrams' lens flare fetish gets the spotlight in a few places. Ma-Rey Sue is born, unfortunately. The only new character worth mentioning is BB-8.
Emo Vader was a joke, Snoke was a Palpatine wannabe, and Han Solo was reduced to a man more senile than Grandpa Simpson. Overall, this movie tries and mostly fails at recapturing the magic of the Original film.
It sucks, but it's not The Last Jedi.
