Review of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) by Jeremy B — 16 Nov 2008
Star Trek: The One That's Really an Allegory for the End of the Cold War. An excellent mystery/adventure that admirably bridges the gap between the Original Cast adventures and the Next Generation stories and gives the Enterprise-A crew a fitting swan song.
Kirk gets to make fun of his lothario persona, Spock reaches a breakthrough as he comes to understand the limitations of logic, Sulu holds his own as a captain, Chekov is allowed to discuss "Russian epic of Cinderella," and McCoy grouses and groans one last glorious time.
And better than all of them is Christopher Plummer, who proves to be one of the best villains of the series as the obsessed, Shakespeare-spouting General Chang. A great movie.
