Review of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) by Kerri L — 07 Dec 2010
The final Star Trek movie with the original series cast. This is a very good send off, and very well written. This story is mostly an alegory to the fall of the Soviet Union (Klingons), and the end of the cold war.
The interesting thing they do in this movie is that they kind of turn it into a murder/mystery type of thing. It works surprisingly well. If you watch one of the episodes from the 60's and then watch this movie, you'll probably hardly recognize these guys anymore because of their ages (especially for Captain Kirk, and Engineer Scotty).
It's a big mix of what I like in Star Trek, it's serious, it's funny, and it has great dialog.
