Review of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) by Dann M — 19 Feb 2012
What does God need with a starship? With William Shatner at the helm, Star Trek takes an interesting turn into the Final Frontier. Once again the series seeks to explore deep metaphysical questions through an exciting space adventure: a charismatic leader hijacks the Enterprise and takes it into the Great Barrier at the center of the galaxy.
While the story is fairly good, the special effects are horrendously awful and distract from the rest of the film. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier is often considered one of the worst original cast films, but there's still a charming campiness to it that makes it a fun and entertaining adventure.
