Regardless of a drop in budget or cast, Shatner's directorial debut an utter, unmitigated mess. Dull and poorly thought out, a search for God in a film series such as this, done so tongue-in-cheek and, schizophrenically, so earnestly, does not a good movie make.

With poor decisions, terrible attempts at what I believe was theoretically meant to be comedy, and a hollow, meaningless plot, "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" is god-awful picture, only held up by excellent performances from the lead actors, Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley.

I cannot beg you enough to skip this film, and move on to the next. Silly and uninteresting, "Frontier" notices your pain, and doesn't care. Stick a fork in it. It's dead, Jim.
