Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by The Master O — 18 May 2013
All things being considered, especially compared to it's sequels and two reboots, this film is slow and boring. It really is in every way. But somehow it's massive scale, grandeur, artistic approach, and the fact it is literally the complete opposite of every non-stop explosive sci-fi movie made today has allowed TMP to grow on me over time.
If you haven't seen it in a while find a copy of the Director's Cut and give it a shot. You'll notice Admiral Kirk's uniform is so cool they copied it for use in both of JJ's film.
It's probably good they left out the rest though! Times have changed.
